Outside of South Africa, in the Indian Ocean, there lived two thorny seahorses – Spike and Sadie. The other animals in the ocean think they are strange and tease them, saying it’s unnatural for Spike to give birth to babies. They say he needs to be more like the other boys in the ocean. Spike insists that he and Sadie are not as different as the other animals think.
A blue ringed octopus, a hawksbill turtle, a mantis shrimp, and a porcupine fish, all set out across the world to find out just how different, or common, these two seahorses are.
This book teaches a great lesson about acceptance and embracing other people’s differences. Showing that it’s ok to not be part of a stereotype, and even though sometimes things may appear very different at first, you can almost always find common ground as well.
This book you will teach you about seahorses, as well as the other included animals, through a colorful and imaginative story.
